Caring for your ears
Proactive ear care can make a significant difference in your overall well being and hearing health! Good ear care is essential for maintaining good hearing health. Here are some tips:
- Avoid using cotton buds, only use cotton buds around the ear canal but do not push the Q tip inside.
- Do not use the ear canal method as it can cause burns and middle ear damage.
- If your ear is severely blocked, avoid putting in essential oils i.e olive oil as it will only cause more build up with the ear - please see a specialist.
- Protect your ears from loud sounds
Remember, ear wax is a natural protection for your ears and serves as a protective barrier against infections and foreign particulars. Poking anything in your ears will only push the wax deeper and possibly cause problems and trauma to your ear.
Patient Treatment After Care
Your ear canal may be feel sensitive and vulnerable to infection following treatment until the ear produces more wax to protect itself as all the wax will be unblocked and cleared from the canal. So it is important to keep your ears dry for a minimum of 4-5 days after treatment.
- Avoid inserting objects like cotton swabs, bobby pins this can damage your eardrums.
- Gently clean the outer part of your ears using water wipes or a warm damp clean cloth.
- This helps remove dirt and debris promoting a clean and healthy environment for healing.
- Be cautious not to insert anything into the ear canal.
